US Consumer Attorneys

Feeling stuck with a timeshare that no longer fits your life? You’re not alone. Thousands of owners—many of them retirees living on a fixed income—search for a safe way out every year.

One name that pops up is US Consumer Attorneys. On the surface, the company promises to “fight for you” and end your contract. Promises and real-world results don’t always match.

This article will lay out every important fact, good and bad, so you can decide if US Consumer Attorneys is worth your money or if there’s a safer road.

About US Consumer Attorneys

Location, Ownership & History

  • Headquarters: 1300 N. Johnson Ave., El Cajon, CA 92020, with a second office at 5173 Waring Rd., San Diego, CA 92120.
  • Incorporated: October 23, 2014; operating since September 15, 2014.
  • Key figure: Henry N. Portner (principal).
  • What they do: Timeshare‑exit representation—letter writing, direct negotiations, and, if needed, litigation.

Track record: A decade in business sounds solid, yet the company currently holds an F rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and is not BBB‑accredited.

How Do US Consumer Attorneys Work?

Step‑by‑Step Process

  1. Intake call & paperwork: First comes a quick intake call and some paperwork: clients answer a brief questionnaire and send in their timeshare documents.
  2. Flat‑fee agreement: A one‑time payment is collected up front.
  3. Demand & dispute letters: Attorneys then draft and send demand and dispute letters to the resort..
  4. Negotiation or lawsuit: If the resort resists, US Consumer Attorneys may escalate to court.
  5. Final transfer (or foreclosure): Ideally, your name comes off the deed; in some cases, clients report a foreclosure instead.

Average Fees

Customer reviews show $3,000–$10,000 per contract. Several BBB complaints mention paying about $4,600–$5,100.

Timeline

Sales reps often quote 12 months, yet many owners say cases dragged on two to five years with little communication.

Escrow or Money‑Back?

US Consumer Attorneys offers a “Satisfaction Guarantee”: if your paid‑off timeshare is not gone or “in process” within one year, you can request a refund. There is no independent escrow account. Your money sits with the company from day one.

Important Note: An escrow keeps your payment in a neutral bank until the service is finished. No escrow means you carry all the risk if things stall. At MyTimeshareExitReviews, we only connect you with vetted timeshare‑exit companies that use escrow, so you pay nothing up front.

Are They Legit?

Yes, US Consumer Attorneys is a real, registered company with licensed attorneys. They have helped some owners exit. However, a flood of customer complaints, an F BBB rating, and active lawsuits raise red flags. Before you lock in thousands of dollars, talk to an independent expert.

Important Note: Licensed attorneys answer to state bar rules, but that oversight does not cover customer‑service speed or refund fights.

US Consumer Attorneys Pros & Cons

Pros

Cons

Pricing & Refund Policy

  • Cost range: $3k–$10k per contract (complex cases trend higher).

Refund clause: If a paid‑off contract is not transferred or “in process” within 12 months after you supply all paperwork, a refund is possible—but you must chase it. No escrow equals no automatic protection.

US Consumer Attorneys Reviews

Some owners report successful cancellations and appreciate the flat‑fee model—”no surprise bills later”.

Common Complaints

  • Poor follow‑up: Multiple BBB complainants say phone calls and emails went unanswered for months.
  • Missed deadlines: Owners were billed by resorts years after they thought they were free.
  • Credit damage: A few say the exit relied on letting the loan default, triggering collections.

Key Metrics

  • Total clients served: Not publicly disclosed.
  • Average cost: $3k–$10k (based on dozens of public cases).
  • Success ratio: The Company advertises high success, but public data is limited; unresolved BBB complaints suggest inconsistency.
  • Escrow or money‑back: Money‑back guarantee only; no escrow.
  • Filed complaints: 50 plus in the last three years.

What Services Do They Offer?

  • Timeshare‑exit negotiations
  • Litigation against resorts if talks fail
  • Credit‑dispute letters tied to the timeshare
  • Mortgage cancellation advice for financed contracts
  • Consumer‑protection claims for misrepresentation

Pro Tip: If they recommend suing, request a written litigation budget; vague numbers today become big bills tomorrow.

US Consumer Attorneys Lawsuits & Complaints

Diamond Resorts Litigation

Diamond Resorts sued US Consumer Attorneys in federal court, claiming false advertising, unfair competition, and interference with contracts. The case is still active.

What This Means for You

While a lawsuit doesn’t prove wrongdoing, it signals heavy scrutiny. If your exit relies on “stop‑paying” tactics, you could face collections and foreclosure while the lawyers battle it out.

BBB Record

  • 50 plus complaints in 36 months; many cite lack of communication or incomplete exits.
  • Rating: F.(failure to respond to complaints).

Important Note: Active lawsuits mean the company’s focus—and funds—may shift toward defense instead of your file.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does US Consumer Attorneys usually take to cancel a timeshare?

Most callers hear a one‑year promise, yet many owners report waiting two to five years before seeing a final release. Resorts stall, paperwork circles back, phones go quiet. Plan for delays and keep your money in escrow so you’re protected.

Does US Consumer Attorneys use escrow?

No. The company bills all fees upfront and holds the funds itself. They offer a “satisfaction guarantee,” but that activates only after a year and requires extra steps. Without an outside escrow account, the risk of non‑performance falls entirely on you.

What is the average fee that US Consumer Attorneys charges?

Public reviews show fees starting near three thousand dollars and climbing toward ten thousand per timeshare. Costs rise when mortgages remain, multiple contracts exist, or lawsuits begin. Always insist on a detailed quote and ask whether funds stay protected in escrow.

Are there active lawsuits against US Consumer Attorneys?

Yes. Diamond Resorts has sued US Consumer Attorneys for false advertising and interfering with owner contracts, and proceedings continue. Lawsuits don’t guarantee wrongdoing, but they create uncertainty, extra costs, and longer timelines you may have to carry if you’ve prepaid.

Is US Consumer Attorneys BBB‑accredited?

No. The Better Business Bureau lists the company as unaccredited with its lowest grade, an F. Over fifty complaints cite poor updates and missed outcomes. Lack of accreditation doesn’t doom a firm, but it does signal unresolved issues you should weigh.

Conclusion

US Consumer Attorneys does bring licensed attorneys to the table, and a few clients walk away free of their timeshare. Yet patterns of slow communication, unresolved complaints, and an active developer lawsuit shadow every promise they make.

It boils down to risk: paying the full fee on day one with no escrow leaves you exposed if the process drags on or fails outright. You could see collection calls, credit damage, and years of anxiety before anything happens.

There’s a smarter path. At MyTimeshareExitReviews, we believe your money should stay protected until results are real. We’ll review your contract, map out every option, and only if you’re comfortable, connect you to a vetted exit company that holds funds in escrow.

Reach out today. Let’s make sure your last memory of that timeshare is closing the door behind you for good.

US Consumer Attorneys - much like the time share companies

February 1, 2024

My experience with US Consumer Attorney’s has been dismal. Very poor communication and it seems like all contact with them after they received our upfront payment was initiated by me. They have now stopped answering their phone altogether. Now, in addition, to have been succumbed to the scam of the Timeshare company I have been, it appears, scammed by US Consumer Attorneys.

No communications after taking $9,200.00 to resolve timeshare issues

January 16, 2022

In November 2018 we contracted US Consumer Attorneys, P.A. cancel our time share contract within 18 months, with possibility of extension. A total payment of $9200.00 was paid to terminate our timeshare account. The time for cancelation has expired and we think reasonable time of for extension, yet we have not heard from U.S. Consumer and cannot communicate with them by phone or the email address given by the phone message. We are not sure if our time share was cancelled and the contract suggest repayment of the $9200.00 if timeshare was not terminated.

On November 30, 2021, we asked Better Business Bureau to look into the matter. They have reached out to US Consumer Attorneys several times but they have not responded.

After giving these scam lawyers $4500 in 2018, I have not been legally released from my timeshare. Up front, they took the money without explaining how they intended to release my timeshare obligation. There was no communication to phone calls. They have now closed the California office and will not speak to me or anyone on the phone. They only communication is through e-mail. Since this business has lost accreditation by the BBB, they are no longer taking new customers. After filing a complaint, they sent me a quit claim deed filed by the county of origin. After confirming with my timeshare, I was told they had no legal right to do this and the timeshare is in deliquency for the past three years. In 2018, USCA told me I didn’t have to make the mortgage payments while under litigation. However, there was no litigation.

NO communication, no call backs, nothing

September 2, 2021

I have paid my fee for service, but I cannot get in touch with anyone to give me an update on my case. I have been calling and leaving voicemails and emails nobody has contacted me as of yet. I have contacted the BBB, my next step is to contact USCA.

This is ridiculous when a client cannot get in touch with his lawyers especially after I paid my fee in full..

US Consumer Attorneys scamers

Sorry, they dont deserve not one star. Its been over four years since they took my $4500. The stated it will be closed in 8 months, nothing but lies after lies for the last four or more years. No correspondence, no updates, no nothing from them. I have to be the one that calls. Each time I am told its in litigation and close to settling, lies. When I spoke to the timeshare company after US Consumer Attorney informed me to call them, I was told, US Consumer Attorney has not been in contact with them at all. They put my case in default of the timeshare eight months after I entered with them. USCA did nothing but take my hard earned social security money and lied to me. Be aware, be aware, be aware! One thing the timeshare company told me, no attorney in the world can get anyone out of the contract.
